Trainee Daniel

"Hello, I am Daniel and I am 19 years old. After graduating from the Scheibner Business School in Dachau, I started my apprenticeship as an office management clerk in September 2019 at HBS.

Up to now I worked in the departments of purchasing, sales, marketing and accounting.

Here I would like to tell you what my tasks in the respective departments have been or are and what impressions I have already gained:

I spent the first months in purchasing. My tasks there included booking delivery bills and entering them into the system, checking order confirmations and entering them afterwards. An important component in the purchase is also the date control, i.e. I had to contact the supplier in case of missing order confirmations or not arrived goods and if necessary I had to request the missing documents or the missing goods again.

Afterwards I was employed in the sales department, where I was allowed to create and send out factory certificates, create order confirmations and send them to the customer, frank letters and hand them over to the post office, as well as create offers and invoices.

I have only spent 4 weeks in marketing so far, but these were very varied and a completely new experience for me. I was allowed to create a social media list of our many international dealers and check how they are represented on Facebook, Instagram, etc. I also revised address lists, which we need for marketing purposes.

Furthermore, I have already been in the financial accounting department, where I also had very different tasks. For example, sorting incoming mail, printing invoices and assigning them to the corresponding delivery bills. Then I post the delivery bills in the system to an invoice. I also checked creditcard invoices from our employees, had them signed and then sorted them.

I complete my theoretical work every Thursday and Friday at the vocational school in Dachau.

I can always ask my helpful and open-minded colleagues for help if I get stuck.

Thanks to these many opportunities to get a taste of all the different departments, I can already assess where my strengths and weaknesses are.

I am looking forward to the further training and am glad to have started my professional career here at HBS."
